Throughout the year, we produce various events for the children and their families. In the next section, you can keep up to date with all the existing activities.

The Big Brother/Sister Program

The Big Brother/Sister Program

The Big Brother/Sister program lends a loving hand and an attentive ear whenever needed. Volunteers stay in frequent contact with the child assigned to them and also serve as a vital link between the child and the Chaiyanu organization.

Chaiyanu has developed a unique program for our heroic mothers! ‘Queen for a day’ is a carefree day to enjoy some relaxation and pampering – an emotional facelift so that you can deal with difficult challenges ahead.

Operation Hanukkah: As Hanukkah approaches, the volunteers of Chaiyanu spread out amongst all the oncology departments in Israel’s hospitals filling in present requests with all the sick children – each child requests whatever he or she desires.

the volunteers and children of Chaiyanu run in the Jerusalem Marathon and raise money to help and support the children of Chaiyanu and their families.

The Chaiyanu Association provides beautiful, personalized wigs to all its children who suffer from illness or treatments that cause them to lose their hair.

Melava Malka

Melava Malka

During the winter months, a weekly musical evening where the volunteers get together and go to one of the childrens houses and play music and sing until the early hours of the morning with the family.

Experienced volunteers are willing to take your place, day or night, any day of the week, over Shabbatot or Chagim to stay bed-side with your child in the hospital or at home when you need a helping hand.

Hospital Visits

Hospital Visits

A special unit of volunteers visit the childrens ward of Israeli Hospitals every week equipped with games, arts and crafts and a variety of fun activities. Volunteers distribute fresh fruit and home baked cookies to the children, their parents and the medical staff to illicit smiles, hope and breath life into the department.

Counseling Services for Parents and Family Members:

In these difficult times, support and counseling services will be available to you via phone or Chaiyanu’s community based counseling centers. Experiences psychologists and health care professionals will help you cope with the situation and provide you with ongoing support and encouragement.

Family coordinators

Each family is assigned an experienced and professional family coordinator who serves as a liaison to Chaiyanu. The family coordinator will organise for you to receive Chaiyanu’s various services as well as assist you in obtaining additional community based services.

Financial Support:

Chaiyanu runs a support fund to finance travel expenses for trips to hospitals, treatment centers and medical clinics. In addition, the organization helps fund non-medical expenses incurred by the child’s illness.

Game room

Chaiyanu has created a place where the sick children and their siblings can escape their troubles and play for hours with advanced gaming technology in their own room which also includes pool, ping pong and soccer tables. There is also a Jamboree for ages 6 months and older.

Loan Library:

Chaiyanu helps organizing the loan of video players, books and computers for children that are bedridden at home or at the hospital for entertainment. Educational and story-telling tapes can also be obtained in a variety of subjects for viewing and listening.
